Ameratex Builders Supply was originally founded in October of 1968 as “American Window
Company”, a distributor and light manufacturer of aluminum window products. Several years
later a sister company was opened under the name of “A-Texan Aluminum Window Company”.
The two companies operated independently until April of 1987 at which time the companies
were consolidated into one operating under the name of “Ameratex Window Company” which
was a combination of the previous two company names. The name was later changed to the
current name of “Ameratex Builders Supply” as the product lines grew to include more than
just windows.
The current product lines include aluminum, vinyl and wood windows, acrylic and glass block
windows for both new construction and replacement windows, standard insect and solar
screens, skylights, factory built fireplaces which include wood burning, gas, vent-free and
electric fireplaces, gas log sets, glass doors and other accessories.
Throughout its history, the company has been locally owned and operated by the same family.
Today it is in its second generation continuing to serve home builders, remodeling contractors
